I don’t talk much about my dressing sense but I can tell you that a lot of work goes into deciding what to wear. Even though I am a wheelchair user and a Hijabi, there are no limits because it is all about how you want to feel and make others feel around you too. Today I am headed to an all-girl event by Girl Gone International, a powerful community of women who travel and live abroad founded by Anne Scott. I decided to wear the colourful skirt I picked from the African Pavilion at Global Village Dubai. The headgear was actually the top that came with the skirt but since it was too short, I merged it with my scarf while braiding the tail to add some colour to the end. I designed a look that will make me look creative and approachable because at meetups it is all about networking, and making new friends and connections. It is also a time to relax, laugh and have fun. The outfit can also be a great conversation starter for icebreakers and meeting new people at events.
I always evaluate the day based on how many genuine friendships I had made, and how good I felt in my skin. How much confidence I had passed on to other women to pursue their goals and I have to say ´feeling´ beautiful has a major role to play in that.
So go play with your wardrobe and bring out the artist in you that meets the change maker and then there is only magic! Good luck!
